In the 20th century, Belgiumís largest military hospital was on the territory of the commune of Elsene. The civil cemetery of Elsene therefor contains a large honorary park arranged for their heroes of the First World War. Here are 221 soldiers including 3 known to God only. 99 of them died in the military hospital after November 11, 1918.
Between each row of graves is a hedge so that one does not really have a clear idea of the magnitude of this honorary park.
Here again the tombstone is of a model that was chosen by the municipality.
