Maldegem is a rural town with 23,000 inhabitants, which in the north of East-Flanders borders the province of West-Flanders. The cemetery is located along the Katsweg.
In a beautiful honorary park 52 of our heroes that succumbed in the First World War were buried. One of them remained unknown. The remains are all below the standard Belgian tombstone. These tombstones are all in need of a good sandblasting.
They all died in the last week of October 1918 during the final offensive.
