Entering the Wijgmaal cemetery and seeing the standard Belgian military gravestones gives you a sour feeling. Our heroes are not buried here in an honorary park (carré militaire). The maintenance at the cemetery, the civilian section as well as the Belgian military tombstones, is substandard.

The 67 casualties, including 16 men only known to God, all died on September 12, 1914 at the reconquest of Wijgmaal during the second counter attack from Antwerp.
