Lille, Cimetière du Sud

91 Rue du Faubourg des Postes

The municipal cemetery of Lille du Sud is, as the name suggests, located south of Lille, near the intersection of highways Lille-Dunkerque / Lille-Paris.

Again, the cemetery is immense. If you ask the way to "the Belgian carré militaire" in the office at the entrance, they will say: Division Q2, "à la fontaine à gauche" (to the left at the fountain)

Don't start looking for a fountain, there is none. In Lille a simple water tap is also a "fontaine". So ask for a floor plan and find out for yourself or ask the way to a casual visitor.

It is amazing that in the municipal cemetery of the largest French city on the Belgian border so few military graves are found. Here are just 5 Belgians, no unknown soldiers, along with relatively few French in the same honorary park. Our heroes are all under the Belgian standard tombstone.
